A tragic crash early Friday morning in Tacoma’s Lincoln International District left one person dead and another injured after a two-vehicle collision sent a car crashing into a house.
The incident happened just after 5 a.m. at the intersection of South Alaska Street and South 38th Street. Emergency crews rushed to the scene following reports of a serious accident involving a vehicle striking a residence.
According to Tacoma Police, initial reports indicate that a vehicle was waiting at a red light when it was suddenly hit from behind by another car. The force of the impact propelled the first vehicle off the roadway and into a nearby home.

The occupants inside the house were not injured, but one person in the vehicle that struck the home died at the scene. A second person, who was inside the other vehicle involved in the crash, was taken to a hospital with injuries that have not yet been disclosed.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities are working to determine whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the collision.
Tacoma Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward as they continue piecing together what led to the deadly crash.
