The popular chicken finger chain Raising Cane’s is bringing its signature menu to Covington, marking one of its first ventures into King County.
According to recently filed documents with King County, Raising Cane’s has secured a long-term ground lease on a 1.3-acre property along the 27200 block of Covington Way Southeast. The lease agreement, reported by The Puget Sound Business Journal, spans 15 years and includes options to renew four more times in five-year increments.
In a strategic move to limit competition, the lease includes a restriction preventing rival restaurants—such as Chick-fil-A and Buffalo Wild Wings—from opening within a one-mile radius of the upcoming site.

This Covington project is part of a broader expansion plan across the Puget Sound region. Raising Cane’s has already announced additional locations in Seattle, Lynnwood, and Silverdale. The Seattle store, located on University Way Northeast in the University District, is expected to welcome guests by late spring. Lynnwood’s site is slated for 1232 164th Street SW, while details on the Silverdale location are still under wraps.
Founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Raising Cane’s has grown rapidly across the U.S., now operating over 800 restaurants in 41 states. The brand made its Washington debut in July 2024 with a location in Vancouver.
