Robbers Allegedly Kidnap Woman, Steal $20K in Jewelry, and Drill Hole in Her Hand

Updated On:

The terrifying incident began when King County deputies were called to an apartment complex after a neighbor reported hearing a scream followed by a gunshot. After repeated attempts to reach the resident failed, authorities began a welfare check. Roughly an hour later, a second call came in — this time, a woman had been found injured along the side of a highway.

The victim, who was hospitalized, recounted the horrifying sequence of events to investigators. According to court documents, two men had waited outside her apartment, knowing her routine and the fact that she lived alone. One suspect brandished a firearm and claimed they had been waiting for her for over three hours.

When the victim arrived home, the pair ambushed her. After an initial gunshot narrowly missed her, they forced her into their car and drove to a bank. In a gruesome attempt to obtain her ATM password, they reportedly used a power drill to bore into her hand. The suspects then took her purse, which contained around $20,000 in jewelry.

Surprisingly, their withdrawal from the ATM amounted to only $40, court documents said.

As they drove away from the bank, the suspects reportedly decided to kill the victim. They pulled over near a concrete retention wall, where one of the men fired again. The woman managed to dodge the bullet, which struck her shoulder instead of her head. Pretending to be dead, she waited until they fled the scene before scaling the wall and flagging down a passerby for help.

While the victim was being treated, police tracked her stolen vehicle to a hotel more than 170 miles away. There, officers arrested 24-year-old Kevin Daniel Sanabria Ojeda and recovered key evidence, including the drill and the stolen jewelry. His alleged accomplice, 25-year-old Alexander Moises Arnaez-Gutierrez, was arrested later. Local media outlets report he may have connections to the Venezuelan criminal group Tren de Aragua.

The investigation is ongoing, and both men face multiple serious charges in connection with the brutal attack.
